The gastrointestinal (GI) system, also known as the digestive system, is responsible for breaking down food and absorbing nutrients essential for the body’s functioning. It includes all organs from the mouth to the anus, along with accessory organs like the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. A variety of common health conditions can affect the GI system, such as ulcers, GERD, hepatitis, and bowel irregularities, often leading to symptoms like indigestion and acidity.
